Ming Dynasty

The Ming Dynasty of China lasted from 1368 until 1644. During this period the Ming Dynasty was a powerful presence in all of Southeast Asia. It was customary for the Ming Dynasty to offer a less-powerful nation a suzerain relationship. The vassal state was required to pay tribute to the Ming Dynasty in the form of goods and services. The Ming Dynasty, as the dominant state in the area, made many such offers to its neighbors.
